Geo-IP Filtering is a process by which you limit connections to your company by IP addresses from certain countries. Blocking traffic from countries with known bad actors in it means they cannot access your firewall or your internal network.
Do you test and apply your operating system patches
Each month operating system patches are released. They range in importance level if you are not patching for Critical, Security, and update/update rollup you are leaving your organization exposed. Less frequently are feature updates which are also required to keep your operating system on a currently supported build.. Patches before being released to production should always be tested for basic functionality and ensure it will not break production software.

Just like your operating systems exploits can be found in the applications your company uses. If you are not patching those vulnerabilities then you can leave yourself exposed.
Do you have anti-virus software and do you use it properly?
Having anti-virus software is vital. However it is more vital that the software is used properly. Do you know when your software updates and if the update failed? Do you know the results of your last scans? Are you using an advanced anti-malware product? If you don't know the answer to these questions or cannot be provided these answers you are not using your anti-virus product properly.
Do you have system monitoring?
Do you have active system monitoring on your workstations and servers. Monitoring will provide you with an inside look into your environment, notifying of inventory, With system monitoring you will know exactly when a machine starts showing out of normal specs and behavior.
Do you have or receive reports proving compliance
Do you receive daily, weekly, or monthly reports on the statuses of your systems. If you are trusting someone to provide your security that report is their report card, if they are afraid to show you the proof of their success or failure then they are showing you a disservice.
